Tell our readers about yourself?
Hi everyone, I’m Trishna, I’m a British Blogger who runs the Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle blog Tips Capsule! Aah, I started my little corner of the internet towards the latter part of 2015 and I had been wanting to do so for absolutely ages, and finally buckled up the courage to take the plunge. I had been a supporter of bloggers/YouTubers and had always wanted my own blog, and when I kept at it for a few months, I was surprised at how much I loved it.
Why is blogging important to you?
Blogging is important to me because it truly gives me the freedom to write about what I want. It’s like a virtual self-expression space where I get things off my chest, share my fave beauty products and can simply be who I want to be.
What are your thoughts on the online blogging community?
This is a little tricky, when I first started out I never knew how to be in the community, if that makes any sense. When I used to comment on other bloggers posts, I would never leave a link to my blog because I didn’t know it was a ‘thing’, I thought the blogger may find it a little rude. However, I learnt its a way of finding new bloggers and I should not be ashamed of doing so. It was only after a few months of speaking on social media and commenting on the same blogs that I started developing friendships and genuine ones at that. Which is one of the things I’m thankful for when it comes to blogging, the friends I have made along the way. However, there is drama in the blogging community but I don’t get involved because I don’t like confrontation, so I simply sit back and ignore it all. It can be a little catty at times but hey that’s life, not everyone gets along with each other.
How would you describe your blogging style?
My writing is quite witty, sarcastic and truthful, I always like to inject some sort of funniness if I can into the post. I like to make them lighthearted and fun to read. In terms of the style of my blog its very much pink orientated haha, I just love Pink. And my pictures/Instagram is pretty much the same, an abundance of pink. Although when it comes to IG and pictures I adore using flowers and encasing products with them, I feel like they add a lovely touch.
What advice would you give to people who want to start their own blog?
Just do it. If you’ve been wanting to blog and simply can’t get your mind off it, take the plunge! You hopefully won’t regret it but if you find it isn’t for you that’s not a problem, at least you’ve tried it. There’s one quote I try to live by, ‘there’s no harm in trying’! If you do start your own blog keep it authentic, write what you want and the way you want to. Don’t feel pressured to write about anything you don’t want to or don’t have an interest in. At the end of the day, it’s your blog and your space to be you. After a few weeks or months, you will begin to develop your own writing/photographing style and will begin to enjoy the ride a lot more because you’re comfortable with it all.
In terms of working with brands, one of the biggest misconceptions about blogging is that, once you start, you will immediately receive free things/sponsored posts, it doesn’t work like that I’m afraid. I didn’t receive any collaborations until after 6-8 months of blogging and until then, I hadn’t really thought about working with brands, I was just writing about the things I wanted to. Working with brands takes time, you almost have to build a repertoire of yourself and blog.
Lastly, promoting yourself? Three of my best and fave ways is through Twitter (which I should use much more of), Instagram and commenting on other bloggers posts. It’s likely once you leave a friendly comment, the blogger will return the favour and comment on your latest post!
